1996...You've Been Missed

A track from Ben Weasel's new solo album (These Ones are Bitter) featuring Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio) on bass and Chris Gaylor (All-American Rejects) on drums has been posted on Insubordination Fest's myspace. It is called "Got My Number" and holy fuck is it good. I've had it on repeat for quite some time. Between this, seeing the Ergs and Lemuria in the functional equivalent of a basement, and Crafty Records Punk Rock Battle Royal comp, I've been overdosing on pop-punk in a major way. And I'm loving it.

The vinyl version of the record doesn't have a release date set, but is promised on Edmond Records sometime in 2007. June 26th is the release date for the album digitally, but fuck that shit. It will be a cold day in hell when I pay for digital files on a computer. Unless we're talking porn or episodes of Degrassi. Let's hope the vinyl date is set soon.

Demonstration

The Bay Area's Ramparts have been killing it with their demo and live shows. Sammy Winston, formerly of All Bets Off is on vox and Anthony Anzaldo from Ceremony (and half a dozen other bands) tears it up on guitar. "No Jazz Before The Rumble" is one of the best songs I've heard all year. Check my review here:

Cheap Tragedies are a Clevo supergroup (ex Gordon Solie Motherfuckers, Names for Graves, Jacknife Powerbombs, etc.) that have been slaying the Midwest the past few months. Fast and melodic hardcore punk combined with Tony Erba wielding a chain a la Bruiser Brody in Japan...what more do you need to know? Pick up a demo and see them live.

The Eat > Your Favorite Band

Trashfever has put up The Eat "Live In Lemon City." This little gem serves as an awesome precursor to the upcoming 2-disc Eat collection Alternative Tentacles is releasing this month. The CD features live tracks ranging from '79-'96. Given the hype that will likely surround the Eat in the coming months you'd be wise to pick this up now.
